Review and Reputation Monitoring
Tracking what search results say about a brand across review sites and forums.
The problem
A brand's reputation lives across many review platforms (each with its own aggregation quirks) plus forums and comment sections that never get formally aggregated anywhere, and a company relying on a single review platform's dashboard is blind to a large share of what's actually being said about them.
How the workflow is built
Brand-name queries run against major review platform domains and general web search on a recurring cadence, extracting rating, review count, and notable recent review text, with sudden shifts (a rating drop, a spike in review volume) flagged for follow-up rather than every individual review surfaced.
Example queries
"[brand name]" reviews site:trustpilot.com"[product name]" complaint OR "doesn't work""[brand]" rating change recent
Pitfalls to watch for
- Review platforms differ substantially in how they compute an aggregate rating (different weighting, different handling of unverified reviews), so a cross-platform rating comparison needs context, not a naive average.
- Fake and incentivized reviews are common enough on some platforms that a raw rating spike or drop needs sanity-checking against review-count context before it's treated as a genuine reputation signal.
- Response and resolution tracking (did the company actually respond to a negative review, was it resolved) is often more actionable than the raw rating itself, but requires following individual threads over time rather than a one-time snapshot.
